Forced and asylum related migration
                                        By 2018, more than 70 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their
                                            homes, and the world's refugee population has reached more than 25 million.
                                            Factors such as conflict and war as well as disaster are the main root
                                            causes of this issues. Iran has a long history of hosting forced migrants
                                            and refugees mostly from Afghanistan for more than four decades. The Iran
                                            Migration Observatory intends to address the issue of refugees and forced
                                            migration in Iran and the Middle East with a policy and governance approach.
                                            The main goals of forced and asylum related migration research group
                                            are:
                                        
                                        
                                            - Research and monitoring the global trend of forced and asylum related
                                                migration and in neighboring countries by focusing on Afghanistan and
                                                Iraq.
                                            
- Conducting surveys and research in the field of economic, social and
                                                cultural issues of forced migrants and refugees in Iran, including
                                                evaluating the desire to re-migration of migrants and refugees residing
                                                in Iran, economic effects of migrants on Iranian labor market,
                                                remittance flows of refugees and migrants residing in Iran
                                            
- Studying and applying experiences of refugee- hosting countries in the
                                                world.
                                            
- Holding training courses, conferences, lectures and summer schools to
                                                discuss about the latest updates on forced and asylum related migration
                                                in the world.
                                            
- Publishing the latest data and experiences to assist policy-makers in
                                                the field of forced and asylum related migration policies.
